Greetings from the Caribbean!
Welcome to YWAM Port Au Prince
YWAM
Port-au-Prince was founded on Jan. 16, 2010 by base leaders Peterson
and Lucy Georges. Born from a vision two years prior, the need to have a
base in Port-au-Prince in addition to the existing base in St. Marc was
all the more apparent after the 7.0 earthquake which devastated
Port-au-Prince on Jan. 12, 2010.
We currently have a temporary base located on the grounds of an orphanage conveniently located less than 10 minutes from the airport. Along with the base directors and their newborn baby, there is a permanent staff of eight who live both on and off base. Hosting YWAM DTS teams, church groups, and individual volunteers, YWAM Port-au-Prince has become the main point for all wishing to assist in the rebuilding of the city and spreading of God’s love.
Currently we are in the plans to build a permanent base for YWAM PaP by this summer on a 30-acre land which the mayor of Port-au-Prince has graciously given us. Not only will we have our new base here, but we will also be partnering with different housing non-profits to build 1000 homes for displaced Haitians.
We are working hard with our staff, volunteers, and multiple teams that have come down and are excited to see what God is doing in the tent cities and local pastors of Port-au-Prince. Despite the tragedy of the past few months, this is God's timing to bring change to Port-au-Prince and we continue to offer hope through His love
